Guam’s best young high school baseball players defeated Indonesia 9-2 in the Little League Asia-Pacific Middle East Senior Division Regionals Thursday in Auckland, New Zealand.

Team Guam’s defense proved tough holding off Indonesia from scoring for the first four innings. Finding their sticks early, Guam had singles from Evan Acosta and Ty Leon Guerrero paired with effective base stealing to lead 2-0 at the end of the first.

Though only scoring one run from Javier Taimanglo in the second inning, Guam went on to score three more runs in the third from Rayshaun Parks, Theano Jones, and Trace Taijeron for their largest offensive run of the game at 6-0.

With Guam up, they continued to drive their sticks in the bottom of the fourth with Parks hitting a triple with 1 RBI. Parks was able to score home off a grounder from Ryan Lizama to lead 8-0.

Indonesia’s first two batters struck out to open the fifth inning. Their third batter, Kenzie Trisnadi was hit by a pitch to advance to first base. With Teuka Rasya up next, Rasya barreled up a double to left center to advance Trisnadi to third base.

A throwing error from Guam allowed both Trisnadi and Rasya to score two runs for Indonesia. A third strikeout closed out the top of the fifth with Guam back at bat. One run was scored by Taijeron in the bottom of the fifth to put Team Guam at a comfortable 9-2 lead.

Ball game was called at the sixth inning with neither Guam or Indonesia scoring any more runs.
