FRIARS HAND DOLPHINS FIRST SOCCER LOSS

FD blanks Southern 4-0

In a battle of two title contenders of the Interscholastic Boys Football League, the two-time defending champion FD Friars showed they still have what it takes to win it all over again with a 4-0 win over the Southern Dolphins, handing Southern its first lost of the season Friday night at the GW Field.

Players of the game: Trystan Santos and Hyunwoo Kim

After a tough loss to the JFK Islanders last week, the Friars came back to play a solid technical match against the always tough Dolphins.

Peter Barcinas, Hyunwoo Kim, Xavier Molyneux and Tags Blas all scored a goal each as FD punched in a pair of goals each half.

“Good game, FD was technical on the corners,” Southern head coach Stephen Meno said. “We left their players unchecked and unmarked and they made us pay for it. Physical game, but good technique as each team traded tackles.”

The Friars improve to 4-1-0, while the Dolphins drop to 2-1-1. Southern tied the front-running Harvest Eagles earlier in the season.
