Swimmer, paddler picked to carry Guam flag

PRESS RELEASE – The Guam National Olympic Committee is pleased to announce the selection of Mr. Israel Poppe and Ms. Miriam Telaje as Guam’s official flag bearers for the opening ceremony of the 2025 Pacific Mini Games, being held in Palau.

Mr. Poppe is a decorated champion swimmer, holding multiple swimming records in every age group on Guam. He most recently brought home a silver and bronze medal from the 2024 Oceania Swimming Championships, underscoring his commitment and elite athletic performance.

Ms. Telaje is a veteran va’a paddler who has consistently represented Guam with distinction. She competed in the 2019 Pacific Games and led Guam’s women’s team to a Silver Medal at the 2022 Pacific Mini Games in Saipan. Her athletic accomplishments also span the globe, including medal finishes at international dragon boat competitions in South Korea.

Both athletes embody the spirit, determination, and pride of Team Guam. We are honored to have them lead our delegation at the Games’ opening ceremony.

Note: Opening Ceremony will be Sunday at 7 pm Guam time in Koror, Palau.
