JAYDEN LIZAMA CADDIES FOR STEPH CURRY

Guam son Jayden Lizama recently received an opportunity that many young adults would cherish for a lifetime. The Gonzaga freshman and 2025 champion of Steph Curry’s Underrated Golf Championship was able to caddy for the greatest three-point shooter of all time.

“I found out I was caddying for Steph through his longtime friend and college basketball teammate at Davidson, Jason Richards,” Lizama said. “Jason helps run the Underrated Golf Tour and I became very close with him throughout the years. He normally caddies for Steph at the American Century, but he was kind enough to let me be on the bag for Steph on Thursday during the Pro-Am.”

This was not the first meeting between Curry and Lizama. Lizama previously competed in the Underrated Golf Tour, Curry’s tournament for young golfers, and won last year’s event by shooting a 68 and 69. The two initially met during a Zoom call when Curry congratulated Lizama on making the tournament, and they later met in person.

“It was awesome talking and being around him for a couple of hours. This is my fifth time talking to him, but nonetheless he’s one of the nicest, most humble people I’ve ever been around,” Lizama shared. “He’s obsessed with golf, so we talked about that a lot, and I asked him advice on life and career stuff as well. The whole experience was pretty unreal, from the atmosphere of the crowds to the team around Steph to just chopping it up with him.”

The event took place at the American Century Championship at Edgewood Golf Course in Lake Tahoe. The tournament featured a star-studded lineup of celebrities, including Curry (the 2023 champion), Charles Barkley, Ray Allen, Davante Adams, Colin Jost, Ray Romano and Jason Kelce.

Lizama continues to make headlines on the West Coast as he prepares to return to school this fall and compete in more tournaments. He will return to Gonzaga University in August and his golf season starts in the fall.
