NEW DUMAU EVENT SEES SAME CARBS BJJ SUCCESS

Top academy continues to dominate

Published on

It’s the latest event on the Marianas Open calendar – the Marianas Dumau Open – that went down Saturday at the UOG Calvo Field House. In the end, it was the familiar dominance of Carbs Jiu Jitsu Academy that swept the team events.

Over 400 participants hit the mats as ‘The Road to the Open’ continues. Seven tournaments from Guam and throughout Asia will culminate into the big Marianas Open show on Oct. 24-25.

Note: Dumau comes from the Dumau Kimonos out of Japan. The owner of that brand is also the owner of the federation ASJJF, the parent association that Marianas open falls under. The word Dumau derives from the Portuguese word that means ‘bad ass’.

The Dumau Open was another opportunity for the local practitioners to hone their skills in competition and qualify for the October event.
