PRESS RELEASE – Pacific Volleyball Academy (PVA) sent two youth teams, PVA Select 14s and PVA Elite 16s, to compete in a four-day volleyball tournament held from June 15–18, 2026, in Metro Manila, Philippines.
This year’s tournament featured several strong youth volleyball programs from the Philippines, including powerhouse teams that have competed well in the National Grassroots Volleyball League (NGVL). Participating programs included FEU Diliman, Canossa Academy, San Felipe Neri Catholic School, and other competitive youth teams from the region.
This marked the third consecutive year that PVA has supported and participated in this type of international youth tournament experience. What began as a single youth division has now grown into a larger event with two competitive divisions, reflecting the continued development of the partnership and the growing opportunities for Guam’s youth athletes to compete internationally.
“Competition is a powerful catalyst for growth,” said Coach Manny Guarin, President of Pacific Volleyball Academy. “It is the ultimate test of character and creates opportunities for our athletes to develop self-motivation, resilience, and confidence. Competing against strong programs in the Philippines challenges our players to adapt, respond, and grow both as athletes and as young people. We are very grateful to our partners and all participating teams for helping create this opportunity.”
In addition to the tournament, PVA’s PVA Premier 18s team received an invitation to participate in the prestigious 2026 Shakey’s National Invitationals, planned for July 2026. The invitation came as a result of the exposure PVA athletes gained through previous tournaments in the Philippines, which helped build recognition for the program and opened the door for new competitive opportunities at a higher level.
