REDHAWKS CAPTURE CAL RIPKEN (7-8) BASEBALL TITLE
Yona takes down Mangilao in championship game
The Yona Redhawks came away with the Cal Ripken League (7-8 yrs) baseball title after fighting off the Mangilao Halu’us 9-5 on Sunday at the Mangilao little league field.
It was a seesaw battle until the bottom of the 5th, where multiple errors by the Halu’us defense did them in. Yona scored four runs in the 1st and 5th innings to do most of the damage.
Damien Quichocho had two hits for the Redhawks and Gabe Niebur added two RBIs. For Mangilao, Deus Alcantara and Reign Carriaga had two hits apiece.

BATTING TITLE
Coming into the championship game, Mangilao’s Dues Alcantara and Yona’s Caiden Garrido were both in contention for the league’s batting title. Alcantara wound up with the crown, finishing the season at .781, with Garrido coming in at .759.
ALL-STAR TRYOUTS
With the season now over, league officials will host tryouts for an All-Star team to represent Guam in Pheonix, Arizona from July 13-18.
The tryouts will be from May 11-15 at the Mangilao Baseball Field from 5-7 pm. You can contact league President Roke Alcantara, Jr at 671-747-4579 for more information.
