SAGE CRUZ CONTINUES PERFECT NAGA RECORD

The Cruz brothers once again demonstrated elite-level performance and composure this weekend as Luck and Sage competed separately at two different events.

The family made the decision to split up in order to ensure both athletes could compete against strong opponents. Their father accompanied Sage to the NAGA Championships for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, while their mother took Luck to a wrestling scramble.

Despite the logistical challenge, both brothers delivered commanding performances.

Luck Cruz competed in the wrestling scramble and went undefeated on the day. He won his first match by technical fall and followed with a dominant pin in his second match. Across both bouts, Luck did not surrender a single point, finishing the day in complete control of his matches.

Sage Cruz went 4-0 at the NAGA Fighter Championships, beating every opponent he faced. He continues his pattern of dominant, high-level performances remaining undefeated in all NAGA Championship events in the last 2 years.

The Cruz family extended deep gratitude to those who continue to support their journey.

The family also spoke on the difficulty of balancing competition schedules while staying together.

“It’s never easy splitting up as a family, but we do what it takes so both boys can face the best opponents available.”

• June 12–14: IBJJF Brasileiro Youth Championships, Brazil
• July 19: IBJJF Honolulu Open, Hawaii
• July 26: IBJJF Pan Kids Championships, Florida
• August 9: ADCC Youth World Championships, Texas
• October 24–25, 2026: Marianas Open International Championship, Guam

The Marianas Open—widely regarded as the premier Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournament in the Pacific—will close out their competitive year, setting the stage for what is expected to be a highly anticipated and closely watched youth appearance.

Competitors from across Guam, CNMI, Japan, South Korea, and the Philippines are expected to converge, making it one of the most competitive youth events in the region.

The Cruz brothers are hoping for the deepest possible brackets and welcome the opportunity to face top local and international talent. Sage previously defeated the #1 ranked kid in ASSJF and continues to actively seek that level of elite competition, embracing every chance to test himself against the best in the Pacific and beyond.

Luck and Sage continue to build momentum across multiple disciplines as they prepare to represent Guam on local, national and international stages throughout 2026.
