DRAGONS, TYPHOONS WIN HOOPFEST

PRESS RELEASE – The 2012 Thanksgiving HoopFest basketball tournament presented by Aloha Maid and Bank of Guam completed its championship games in the 18 under and 25 under competitive divisions on Sunday at Tamuning Gym.

Typhoons Joe Blas was named MVP and received the Bank of Guam division top scorer award with a total of 96 points averaging 24.0 per game.

“It was an exhilarating night for the fans who filled up the gym and expressed themselves with cheers throughout the game. The success of the 9th annual HoopFest tournament is due to the players, coaches and their fans contribution to the sport of basketball,” stated tournament coordinator Elsa Ulloa.

Championship game day 2 results

Turkey Shoot Division (18 under competitive): Island Dragons 58, Warriors Club 46. Dragons Sam Setik was named MVP and Warriors Sheik Carino received the Bank of Guam division top scorer award with 56 total points averaging 18.66 per game.

Turkey Blast Division (25 under competitive): Tamuning Typhoons 74, Inarajan Hawks 61. Typhoons Joe Blas was named MVP and received the Bank of Guam division top scorer award with 96 total points averaging 24.0 per game.

Guam Blooded: Ethan Toves Maddies has signed to play D1 baseball for the College of The Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts on a full ride scholarship.
He is the son of proud parents Macky and Yvette Toves Maddies of Los Alamitos, California, grandson of Juan and Maria Toves+ formerly of Ordot/Barrigada Guam and Godson of Anthony and AnnMarie Toves of Ordot, Guam.

The All-Tournament selection were Zhion Macapinlac JFK, Darwin Ecijan JFK, Matthew Quinata Southern, and Malcom Fernandez Tiyan.
