GUAM RADIOLOGY NIPS ADA’S TRUST

PRESS RELEASE – Bud Light Golden Hoops Classic (GHC) 2012 Fall Tournament hosted another exciting night of games on Wednesday at Tamuning Gym. In the coed recreation division Guam Radiology (GRC) stole a victory from Ada’s Trust Club in double overtime 42-41.

In the final two minutes of regulation GRC commanded a 39-31 when Ada’s Trust Scott Ulloa went on a scoring spree scoring two points in the paint and sinking 3 of 4 from the free throw line to cut the lead by three. Teammate Anthony John’s Hail Mary shot from the free throw line with 1.2 second left found all net that sent the game into overtime.

GRC and Ada’s Trust could not score on its attempted shots that sent both teams into its second overtime. A bucket from Ulloa gave them the two point lead but GRC’s Adrian Almazan would not give up scoring on a put back with a foul. Almazan made good on the free throw sealing the win.

GRC’s Inciong scored 14 points followed by Dayriel Ollet with 11 points. Almazan chipped in nine points. Ada’s Trust top scorers were Ulloa with 13 points and John with eight points.

18 plus men’s varsity division

Team Heineken 139, GWC 56: Heineken’s Joseph Blas and Earvin Jose scored 39 points each. GWC’s Rey Sablan scored 20 points followed by Mark Taijeron with 12 points.

Four Stars 55, Malesso Rebels 51: Four Stars Arle-Francisco Tolenoa and JackyJoe Rudolph scored 10 points a piece. Rebels Jordan Chargualaf scored a game high 17 points in the loss.

Andersen Defenders 63, Tamuning Typhoons 50: Defenders Ollie Bradley scored 23 points followed by Dave Robbins with 12 points. Typhoons Jude Martinez scored 15 points and Derrick Royster scored 10 points.

QUICK HITS

The Prospects captured the Guam PONY Colt Spring Baseball League (14-16) championship Saturday with a masterful 2-0 win over the Smokies.
Pitchers Gavin Alcantara (5 innings) and Javier Taimanglo (2 innings) combined to throw a no-hitter.
Taimanglo and Juan Carlo Presnell drove in the two runs for the Prospects, and Skyler Paulino had two hits.

Guam Blooded: Joel Toves has signed to play college volleyball for the UC-Merced Bobcats. He is the son of Arianne and Phillip Toves of Dededo and grandson of Ed and Paulette Toves of Malesso.
Joel will be on Guam over the summer to help out with his uncle Al Garrido’s volleyball camps with the Legacy Volleyball Club.
