RAYS KNOCK OUT REBELS 11-2

PRESS RELEASE – The Leo Palace Baseball League AAA Playoff Tournament continued Wednesday night with the #6 Merizo Rebels matching up with the #3 Ipan Rays.  The Rays who hadn’t played in almost two weeks showed no rust as they scored in each of the first five innings to knock the Rebels out of the playoff with a 11-2 win.

Rays starter Edward Sanchez didn’t need much offense shutting down the Rebels through the first 4 innings and went 6 innings allowing only two runs on seven hits to pick up the win. The Rays offense took advantage of five Rebel errors to score six unearned runs. Tony Yatar and Tony Doyle lead the Rays offense with two hits a piece.

The Rebels couldn’t get their offense started, finally scoring two runs in the 5th inning with an rbi single from Jesse San Nicolas scoring Eric Alcantara and Brandon Elm who had both singled. That would be all the offense the Rebels could muster with several base running mistakes ending possible Rebel offensive rallys. Eric Alcantara finished 2-3 with a run and 2 stolen bases.

The Rays (6-2) advance to the AAA playoff semifinals to play #2 seed AM-PCR Angels (7-1) on Sunday at 6 pm at Leo Palace Stadium.  The #5 seed Philip & Son’s Phillies (4-5) match up with the #1 seed Yigolos (8-0) on Saturday at 6 pm in the other AAA playoff semifinal.

Winning Pitcher – Edward Sanchez; Losing Pitcher – Ricky Fernandez
