AMIGOS SCORE 16 UNANSWERED RUNS

[sixcol_five_last]

PRESS RELEASE – Tuesday night Jim Beam Amateur Baseball actions featured the Chalan Pago Amigos facing off against Haggan in an important matchup in the race for the playoffs.  It looked like Haggan was going to come out on top of this one up 3-0 in the 5th inning with starter Larry Bombon throwing a no hitter.  But anything can happen in baseball and anything kept happening until the Amigos had finished off Haggan 16-3 in a game that was closer than the score would have you believe.

Haggan’s Harley Loach and Ray Apiag would lead off the game with back to back singles and then on a rbi sac fly from Justin Candoleta and rbi single from Kenny Francisco.  Tony Borja would cap the rally with an rbi triple and give Haggan an early 3-0 lead.

Up 3-0 with 2 outs in the 5th inning and with no hits on the board for the Amigos is when the wheels came off the cart.  The Amigos would erupt for a seven run two out rally sparked by rbi singles from Alan Quintanilla and Zach Quintanilla and five errors from the Haggan defense.  Larry Bombon would exit in the 5th allowing only one hit over 4 2/3 inning.

The Amigos would again take advantage of Haggan errors staging another two out rally exploding for nine runs with back to back doubles by Brian Quintanilla and Andy Quintanilla igniting the rally.   The Haggan defense would contribute another 4 errors in the inning and give the Amigos an unsurmountable 16-3 lead.

Amigos starter Paul Campos would settle down giving up only three more hits over the final six innings and finishing with ten strikeouts to earn Strike Zone Player of the Game and become this season’s first three game winner.

Aleton Mesgnon, Andy Quintanilla, Zach Quintanilla and Bruce San Nicolas each had two hits for the Amigos who improve to 4-3 with the win.  Harley Loach finished 2 for 3 with a run and two stolen bases for Haggan who fall to 2-4 with the loss.
