PRESS RELEASE – The Asan Guns and Blue Jays squared at Leo Palace Resort in Tuesday night Amateur League action.  The Guns would take a 4-3 lead after three innings but the Blue Jays offense would open up in the top of the fourth inning and never looking back as reliever Marcus Certeza would quiet the Guns at the plate and close out a 14-4 mercy rule win.

The Blue Jays and Guns would each score one run in the first inning.  Jarret Blea would provide a rbi single scoring Brian Santos for the Blue Jays.  Hank Salas would triple and come in to score on a Julian Duenas sacrifice to even the score at 1-1.

The Blue Jays would jump out to an early lead in the top of the 3rd with clutch two out singles from Jay Cing and Keith Santos giving the Blue Jays a 3-1 lead.

The Guns would take the lead back in the bottom of the 3rd inning taking advantage of a leadoff walk and hit by pitch.  Gene McDonald would drive in one on a sac fly and a big two out triple over the right fielders head gave the Guns a 4-3 lead after three innings.

Errors would do in the Guns in the top of the fourth inning with the Blue Jays scoring four unearned runs to take back the lead 7-4.  The Blue Jays would continue their offense explosion in the 5th inning with Strike Zone Player of the Game Vince Ibanez leading off the inning with one of his three hits on the night.   Two more Gun’s errors would push across three more runs for the Blue Jays extending their lead to 10-4.

The Blue Jays offense would string together four consecutive singles from Keith Santos, Vince Ibanez, Mike Gumataotao and Josh Perez to score four runs and take the 14-4 win with the 10 run mercy rule.  Ibanez and Jay Cing would collect 3 hits a piece and the Blue Jays pounded out 14 hits as a team.

Blue Jays reliever March Certeza picks up the win battling out of bases loaded jams in the 3rd and 5th inning allowing no hits and no runs in 3-2/3 innings of work.   The Blue Jays improve to 4-2 with the win.  Malcolm Chaco had 3 hits for the Guns who drop to 1-4 on the season.

Jim Beam Amateur Baseball action continues Thursday 7 pm at Leo Palace Resort with Haggan taking on “691”.  Follow the action live this weekend with the IT&E live in game updates on Facebook/AmateurBaseball Guam and our website www.guamstrikezone.com.Saturday and Sunday at 12 pm, 3 pm and 6 pm.
