PRESS RELEASE – Thursday night Jim Beam Amateur Baseball action featured a great matchup with the #2 seed Barrigada Crusaders and #3 seed Yona Redhawks. Redhawks starter Mark Parks would bring his A game limiting the Crusaders to only one hit to give the Redhawks a 2-0 win.
Crusaders starting pitcher Clayton Cruz would hold the Redhawks until the bottom of the 3rd inning with the Redhawks taking a 1-0 lead on an unearned run. Shane Camacho would reach on an error with two outs, steal 2nd bases and come around to score on an rbi single by Tristan Aguero who was 2 for 3 in the game.
The Redhawks would add an insurance run in the 5th inning when Zach Castro would lead off with a double to right center and score on a Sal Delfin RBI single to give the Redhawks 2-0 lead.
That would be more than enough run support for Parks who would strikeout the side in the 1st, 2nd and 7th innings a tie the season single game mark with 14 strikeouts. Park goes the distance to pick up the win allowing 1 hit and 4 walks in 7 innings. Cruz was almost as effective, allowing the Redhawks only one earned run over 6 innings but picks up the loss for the Crusaders.
Tristan Aguerro, Trebor Aguerro, Juan Lizama and Zach Castro had two hits each for the Redhawks. Kin Fernandez picked up the lone hit for the Crusaders a leadoff double in the 3rd inning.
With the win the Crusaders and Redhawks have identical 8-2 records but switch spots in the standings with the Crusaders in the #3 seed and the Redhawks with the #2 seed for the playoffs.
