After watching the Simon Sanchez girls wrestling team win their sixth straight IIAAG championship last night, the FD Friars joined the party and continued their legacy as well. The Friars continued their dynasty with eight Friars winning gold medals at the All-Island Meet.

The dynasty continues! The Simon Sanchez Sharks girls wrestling team won their sixth straight IIAAG Girls title after winning 6-of-6 matches in the gold medal rounds of the All-Island Meet Friday night at the FD Phoenix Center.

The FD Friars and Sanchez Sharks met Saturday morning for a showdown of two of the leagues top teams. The Lady Sharks pinned down the Academy Cougars 34-21 and the Friars out numbered of the Sharks in a 52-27 win, with five wins coming via forfeit.

The Sanchez Sharks continued to dominate the IIAAG Wrestling League with wins Saturday afternoon against the Tiyan Titans and Southern Dolphins. Almost every Shark wrestler taking the mat produced wins as both the girls and boys improved to 5-0 for the season.

Guam wrestlers are receiving a gold medal opportunity through the 2017 Phoenix Club over the course of a month long training program headed by Stanford wrestling coach (2004 Olympic silver medalist) Jamill Kelly and National Collegiate champion Jose Cruz, all happening at the Steel Athletics gym in Tamuning.
