GOLDEN HOOPS RESULTS (SEPT 26)

PRESS RELEASE – Bud Light Golden Hoops Classic (GHC) 2012 Fall Tournament hosted four games on Wednesday night at Tamuning Gym with a gym full of fans present in support of the coed recreation division teams Guam Radiology (GRC) and Fuetsa Club.

GRC’s come from behind win 49-44 had its fans on their feet cheering their office mates for the win as the final buzzer went off. GRC team record is 2-2 while Fuetsa team record is 3-1.

Top scorers were GRC’s Manny Inciong with 15 points and Ryan Reyes with 10 points. Fuetsa’s Gino Perez scored a game high 18 points followed by Elizabeth Smith with nine points.

Games continue on Sunday starting at 11am with the final game played at 9pm.

18 plus men’s varsity division

Legacy Club 74, GWC 51. Legacy’s Rodrigo Grande Jr. scored 19 points followed by John Queno with 14 points. GWC’s Rey Sablan scored 18 points and Mark Taijeron scored 11 points.

Bank of Guam 76, Team IX Club 40. Bank of Guam’s Cory Lorenzo scored a game high 37 points. Team IX’s AJ Asuncion scored 14 points and Justin Minas scored 10 points.

Sixers Club 71, Four Stars 64. Sixers Adam Lloyd scored 21 points and Stefan Whitehurst scored 18 points. Four Stars Gino Soulik scored 19 points and Jayme Saperna chipped in 11 points.

Ivan Sablan took home the Mel Davis Junior Golf Tournament title (Boys 15-18) with rounds of 78-73. Markus Nanpei (77-78) and Eduardo Terlaje (79-74) followed behind two strokes back at GICC.

Pro rugger Zach Pangelinan suffered a leg injury on his way to a try in the Houston SaberCats match vs. the L.A. Giltinis on Saturday in Major League Rugby action. The 32-year-old fullback in his fourth year with Houston is recovering and said he will be back on the pitch soon.
