GPA/GWA SEASON CONCLUDES

PRESS RELEASE – The 2012 GPA-GWA annual basketball tournament will determine a new champion 7pm Wednesday at Tamuning Gym between the two agencies. After six weeks of round robin and single elimination games what started with 11 teams is now down to the final two. GWA Hanom and GPA Pruvient will take the court to battle it out for 40 minutes and crown the next reigning champion.

“The annual GPA-GWA basketball tournament definitely focuses on building employee morale through sports in an organized competitive environment. The camaraderie amongst the employees/players is positive and most importantly it brings their families together to support the teams playing,” stated tournament official Elsa Ulloa.

Last year’s champions GWA H2S did not make the top six that resulted in not being able to participate in the single elimination playoffs. “It hurts having to watch the playoffs in the stands but I’m here to support my friends who are still playing,” said H2S player Bryan Mendiola during Sunday’s playoffs.
Hanom swept the round robin series with a 10-0 record seeding them at 1 while Pruvient with a 7-3 team record was seeded 3.

“Hanom and Pruvient are the final two teams left and it will be a good game to watch come Wednesday. The awards presentation takes place after the championship game that will include the individual awards presented to the MVP and Top Scorer,” said Ulloa.
