BLUE JAYS, AMIGOS IMPROVE TO 3-0

PRESS RELEASE – The Budweiser Fall Amateur Baseball League continued this weekend with plenty of baseball action.  Two teams improve to 3-0 on the season with the  Amigos taking a 5-4 win over the Northern A’s on Saturday and on Sunday the Blue Jays took down the ACI Jets 10-4 to stay perfect at 3-0.  Here are other scores and results from this weekend:

Saturday Action

Asan Guns(1-0) 12 AXE Stars(0-2) 6

The Asan Guns won their first game of the season with a 12-6 win over the AXE Stars.  Jude Quichocho took the win on the mound and went 1 for 3 with 3 runs to earn Strike Zone Player of the Game.  Phil Esparza was 2 of 3 for the Stars who managed only three hits in the loss.  The Guns improve to 1-0 and the AXE Stars fall to 0-2.

Sakudee(1-1) 12 Kosrae Speedos(1-2) 1

Sakudee also picked up their first win of the season on Saturday with a great pitching performance from Auron Eclavea leading a 12-1 mercy rule of the Kosrae Speedos.  Eclavea would go six innings allowing only one earned run on four hits with five strikeouts as Sakudee evens their record at 1-1.  Aliksa Robert Jr was 2 for 3 for the Speedos as they fall to 1-2 on the season.

Chalan Pago Amigos(3-0) 5 Northern A’s(1-1) 4

Two time Amateur Champions Chalan Pago Amigos sit atop the Proa Division standings staying perfect at 3-0 with a 5-4 win over the Northern A’s in the Saturday night game.  The Amigos would rally for five runs in the 3rd inning and Bruce San Nicolas and Paul Campos would stifle the A’s to hold on to the win.  Johnny Aguon was 2 for 3 with a double and two runs in the loss for the A’s.  Aleton Mesgnon had two hits; San Nicolas picks up the win and Campos the save as the Amigos improve to 3-0.

Sunday Action

Talofofo Rangers(2-1) 10 Sumay Braves(1-2) 5

Sunday action at Leo Palace kicked off with defending champions Talofofo Rangers taking on the Sumay Braves.  The Rangers would score eight runs in the 2nd inning capped by a 2 rbi Frank Santos triple.  Fernando Rabago would hold off a Braves late inning rally and go the distance to pick up the win and Strike Zone Player of the Game.  Andrew Taijeron chipped in three hits for the Rangers who improve to 2-1.  Justin Candoleta was 3 for 3 in the loss as the Braves drop to 1-2.

Blue Jays(3-0) 10 ACI Jets(1-3) 4

The Blue Jays took over the top spot in the Ifit Division behind an eleven strike out performance by starting pitcher Austin McKay.  The Blue Jays scored five runs in the 1st inning and four runs in the 4th to take down the Jets who couldn’t find their offense.  Brothers Brian and Donovan Santos had two hits each for the Blue Jays who start the season strong at 3-0.  The ACI Jets fall to 1-3 on the season.

Barrigada Crusaders(2-1) 17 Agat Mayor’s Office Cardinals(0-3) 7

In the Sunday night cap at Leo Palace the Barrigada Crusaders handed the Agat Mayor’s Office Cardinals their 3rd loss of the season with a mercy rule 5 inning 17-7 win.  The Crusader’s TJ Leon Guerrero, Howard Wolford and Cooper Paulino contributed two hits each and starting pitcher Jon Sablan went five innings to pick up the win for the Crusaders as they improve to 2-1.  The Cardinal’s catcher Brian Bunag was 2 for 3 as the Cardinals drop to 0-3.
