PRESS RELEASE – Duane Camacho and Anthony Meadows fought through the elimination rounds to conquer the August Budweiser King and Prince of the Lanes competition held on Sunday, August 18, 2013 at the Central Lanes Bowling Center.

Camacho trumped top seed Keith Guerrero after back and forth lead changes in the early frames ended in a must double situation. With Camacho finishing on a strike spare combination, Guerrero was forced to bowl two more strikes in the tenth frame working with a double from the eighth. Suspense filled the air after Guerrero struck on the tenth frame to give him hope. On the fill frames Guerrero heaved the ball which over rotated chopping off the head pin for a 3-6 leave that earned Camacho the monthly title.

In the Semi-Final rounds, Guerrero dispatched Brian Manibusan 199-150 while Camacho ousted second seed Jay Leon Guerrero 232-179. Camacho’s journey to the finals included wins over JD Castro in the quarter finals 186-145 and Jayson Viray in the first round of elimination 210-172.

Guerrero bombarded the lanes with a 1383 total during the six games qualifier held earlier in the day. His set of 248, 225, 234, 221, 217 and 238 netted him a 230 average. Fellow East Asian Games team member Jay Leon Guerrero finished second with a 1275 total followed by JD Castro 1258, Duane Camacho 1245, Manny Tagle 1187, Brian Manibusan 1179, Tim Nauta 1165, Jayson Viray 1158, Albert Dela Cruz 1117 and Ricky Duenas 1114 rounded off the top ten.

Meadows took a similar route to his first monthly title as he denied Cabral’s opportunity to hoist the hardware. Meadows took full control of the match from the onset as Cabral was unable to match the string of strikes from his opponent ending in a 225-154 tilt.

Top seed Cabral dropped Jhun Viray in the semi-final match in similar fashion with a 224-132 victory while 3rd seed Meadows took apart 2nd seed Brandon Manibusan 200-152 to set up the monthly finals.

Meadows recorded victories over defending monthly champion Paul Kaneshiro in the quarterfinals 215-150 and Nikko Gutierrez 200-165 on his way to the finals.

Cabral edged Manibusan in the battle of the top post for the Budweiser Prince of the Lanes. Cabral’s 1337 total was one pin better than Manibusan as a 257 sixth game catapulted him to the pole position. Anthony Meadows finished in third place with a 1287 total followed by Paul Kaneshiro 1267, Mary Pangleinan 1240, Jared Gutierrez 1218, Arlene Taitague 1214, Juan Blas 1213, Nikko Gutierrez 1200 and Jhun Viray’s 1191 rounded off the top ten competitors inclusive of handicap.

The Next Budweiser King and Prince of the Lanes will be held on Sunday, September 22, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. at the Central Lanes Bowling Center.
