CHARFAUROS SETS NEW M.S. BOWLING RECORD

PRESS RELEASE – The SIFA Manta Rays’ Aubreale Charfauros delivered a commanding performance that cemented her legacy as the premier female bowler in Guam’s middle school ranks, capturing her third consecutive All‑Island Singles Championship in record‑breaking fashion. Charfauros fired games of 204, 204, and 225 for a 633 series, averaging 211 pins per game – a new All‑Island middle school record.

Her dominance was undeniable, finishing 198 pins ahead of the field. The girls’ top ten showcased representation from six of the seven participating schools, with the SJS Knights placing an impressive five bowlers in the top tier. The Knights were led by Paloma Cook (2nd) and Green Park (3rd), followed by Millie Crisfield (6th), Meimei Lan (7th), and Roxanne Reed (10th). SACS Raiders’ Haley Pinaula capped her debut season with a strong 4th‑place finish. DCS Veritas’ Aria Jae Domingo and Elise Tabunar placed 5th and 9th, respectively, while MEMS Seahawks’ Kaytlyn Huffman secured 8th place.

In the stepladder finals, 3rd seed Green Park edged teammate Cook in a tight semifinal to earn a championship showdown with Charfauros. But the defending champion was unshakable. Charfauros showcased her trademark poise and precision, stringing together clean frames and timely strikes to post a 212 game, securing her three‑peat and finishing with the second‑highest total pinfall across both divisions. She was awarded the All‑Island Trophy, with medals presented to the top ten bowlers.

Boys Division: A Rivalry Reignited

The boys division delivered another dramatic chapter in the ongoing rivalry between the league’s top contenders. Defending champion Lyo Sawada of the SACS Raiders dominated the three‑game qualifier, setting a new middle school record with a 638 series, highlighted by a blistering 264 game and an opening 220.

AMS Dragons’ Nathan Caasi stayed within striking distance, finishing 47 pins behind with a high game of 227, while Raiders’ Dylan Cruz surged late to secure the third seed and a spot in the stepladder.

The remainder of the top ten featured SIFA Manta Rays’ John Tumamak in 4th place, followed by SACS Raiders’ Aryan Dewan in 5th. A tie for 6th place went to Manta Rays’ Silis Brown and Shayden Bukikosa, while HCA Eagles’ Hyunjin Ji secured 8th. AMS Dragons’ Louie Jin Chapman finished 9th, and SACS Raiders’ Xavier Quinata rounded out the top ten in 10th place.

The stepladder opened with Caasi defeating Cruz through steady spare conversions and a timely double, setting up a championship rematch with Sawada.

What followed was the most electrifying title match of the season.

Caasi came out firing, unleashing a six‑bagger while Sawada struggled to carry the ten pin despite hitting the pocket. Holding a 40‑pin lead midway through the match, Caasi faltered with back‑to‑back errant shots, missing a 7‑pin and a 6‑10, giving Sawada a narrow opening.

The defending champion responded with a turkey, setting up a dramatic finish. Needing a strike on his 11th ball to steal the title, Sawada sent a shot that drifted a board inside but held its line—only to finish slightly high, leaving a 4‑pin and handing the championship to Caasi, who closed with a 235 game.

The All‑Island Championship continues on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, with the Team Baker’s Finals scheduled for 4:15 p.m. at Central Lanes Bowling Center.
