PRESS RELEASE – Chalan Pago Amigos 9,  Talofofo Rangers 0

FABL-page-001Budweiser King of the Diamond action continued this weekend with the featured matchup being Sunday night with the #1 Chalan Pago Amigos taking on the #3 Talofofo Rangers.  The Amigos erupted for 8 runs to take a 9-0 lead in the 4th inning to break open a pitcher’s duel between Amigos starter Paul Campos and Rangers starter Frank Santos Jr.  That was all Campos would need at one time retiring 14 straight Ranger batters as the Amigos rolled to a 9-0 win and advance to the winners bracket semifinal game.

Aleton Mesgnon would score the first run of the game in the bottom of the 1st getting hit by pitch and coming in to score on a rbi single by Brod Santos giving the Amigos an early 1-0 lead.

The Amigos would put the game away in the 4th inning jumping on Rangers reliever Andrew Taijeron and taking advantage of a couple Rangers errors to rally for 8 runs. Bruce San Nicolas would lead the rally with a bases clearing triple to right center.  Brod Santos had an rbi single and was 3 for 4 with a run and 2 rbi in the game.

The Rangers would finally get a runner on base in the 6th inning only for Campos to get the next hitter to ground into a double play.  Campos takes home Strike Zone Player of the Game allowing only four hits in seven innings to notch the win.

The Amigos advance to the winner’s bracket semifinal game with their opponent yet to be determined.  The Rangers drop down to the loser’s bracket in the double elimination tournament.

Sumay Braves 5,  Agat Mayor’s Office Cardinals 4

In other King of the Diamond games played on Saturday the Sumay Braves took down the Agat Mayor’s Office Cardinals 5-4 in a winner’s bracket matchup.  Francisco Portodo would drive in Brent Blau in the bottom of the 7th inning for the walk off win.

Brent Blau would lead off the bottom of the 7th inning with a line double down the left field line to get the winning run on base.  Eber would get two outs before Francisco Portodo would ground a base hit up the middle for a walk off celebration as the Brave’s comeback for the 5-4 win.

Jay Santos was stellar on the mound for the Braves allowing only 5 hits over 7 innings with 3 Ks.  Brent Blau grabs Strike Zone Player of the Game going 2 for 3 with a double, triple and 2 runs scored.

The Braves advance to play the winner of the A’s and Crusaders in the winner’s bracket.  The Cardinals fall to the loser’s bracket and take on #3 Dirt Bags.

Dirt Bags 10, Kosrae Speedos 9 (10th inning)

The Dirt Bags and Kosrae Speedos put on a show for fans in the Saturday 3pm game with the Speedos tying the game at 5-5 in the bottom of the 6th to force the game into extra innings.   In the 8th inning the Speedos would put four runs on the board only to have the Dirt Bags answer and tie the game up again with four runs of their own.  The Dirt Bags would finally end the game with a walk off single by Chris Palomo in the bottom of the 10th inning giving the Dirt Bags a 10-9 win.

EJ Lizama went 7 innings of relief for the Dirt Bags to get the win and Chris Palomo was 3-6 with the game winning hit to earn Strike Zone POG.  Dave Santiago also chipped in 3 hits for the Dirt Bags and Cliff Palomo reached base 5 times and scored 3 runs.

Paul Palsis was 2-2 with 2 runs for the Speedos who are eliminated from the Playoffs.  The Dirt Bags advance to play the AMO Cardinals.

Sakudee 16, Asan Guns 11

In other action Sakudee held off the Asan Guns 16-11 in a 5 inning rain shortened game.  The Guns would score 7 runs in the top of the 2nd to jump out to a 7-1 lead.  However, Sakudee would answer with 12 runs in the bottom of the 3rd to take 13-7 lead.

The Guns would add three runs in the 4th to cut the lead to 13-11 but Sakudee would add 3 insurance runs in the 5th to extend to a 16-11 lead before the rains would come and make the game official after 5 innings.

Hank Salas was 3 for 3 with two runs for the Guns who are eliminated from the playoff tournament.

Larry Fejeran was 3 for 3 with two doubles, two runs and two rbi to pick up Strike Zone POG.  Vic Fernandez Jr also added two doubles for Sakudee who stay alive in the loser’s bracket and advance to play winner of Yona vs AF Reserves.

QUICK HITS

Guam’s Jeremiah Camacho shot a perfect game at the 48th Hong Kong Open. The 22-year-old Guam National Team Member shot his 18th career perfect game on lanes 1 and 2 at Top Bowl Lanes in Hong Kong.
