It was a hot Sunday morning for the Manha division kids to play football when pouring rain interrupted the hot weather. However, the weather did not affect the kids, especially the Angels, who were able to come up with the 27-0 shutout win over the Jets.

The Angels defense came up big throughout the whole game by not letting the Jets even touch the end zone.

It was a very slow start for both teams in the beginning of the game, but Angels veteran, Adin Lumba, broke the ice and sparked up both the crowd and the team by getting the 40-yard run giving them the first touchdown of the game in the 2nd quarter.

“I was very nervous the whole game. I was thinking that we were going to lose and that we weren’t ready,” stated Angels Adin Lumba of his early thoughts of today’s game.

Gage Chinel completed the 1 point conversion making the score 7-0.

Jet’s Leenperson Pasil, wanted to keep the team in the game by taking an opening. He carried the ball for 45 yards but was stopped by the hustle and the defense of Angels, Noah Medler, getting the tackle just a couple yards away from the red zone, nearly getting the touchdown. On the following that play, Angels got another run by Sage Castro for a touchdown and a completed 1-point conversion by Kierin Quitugua. Making the score 14-0 at halftime.

Coming out of halftime, the Angels came out with the same charisma and energy from the first half. After a fumble from the Jets, Angels quickly responded by giving handoffs to Izaiah Tabobo, giving them the yards needed. Soon, on a 3rd down, quarterback Noah Medler handed the ball off to Izaiah for another touchdown. However, without completing the conversion making the score 20-0.

The young Angels sensed victory in their grasps by getting one more touchdowns before the whistle was blown. With Noah giving the first pass in the game to Kyami Paulino. That set the play for Damian Paulino getting the handoff and shifting through the tough Jet defense for the touchdown. Darren Cepeda concluded the game with a competed conversion making the final score 27-0.

“I think that we played a good game. My teammates helped me get the blocks and the catches. Our coaches and teammates helped me overcome the nerves,” said Adin reflecting his thoughts after the game.

Even though there was a bit of controversy in the 2nd quarter between both teams’ coaches, the kids played on. The kids wanted to just play the game they love. The kids handled the game as professionals and didn’t let the drama effect their play.
