Issu Mendiola and quarterback Stephen Phillips proved to be too much for the Steelers, as Phillips’ go-to man scored six touchdowns in their 56-12 win over the rookie team.

By half time, the Angels had staked their claim on the win with a dominating 38-0 lead, and Mendiola had already clocked in his first four touchdowns.

To open up the second half, Angels’ Ryan Bigler grabbed ahold of a pass in the end zone after a Steelers defender had deflected it.

Shortly after, Mendiola caught his fifth reception touchdown, making the score 50-0.

Thomas Medler mustered offensive hopes for the Steelers bringing them to the three-yard line off a crucial run. Medler then shoved and pushed his way into the end zone for their first touchdown.

The Angels retorted with another score of their own; Phillips threw right into the sure hands of Mendiola for about a 40-yard reception.

As the clock winded down, the Steelers knew what was coming; however, they did not go down without a fight. With one second left in the game, Steelers quarterback Adam Palomo connected with Jon Rapolla for a 20-yard reception touchdown to end the game.

In the first half, deep in their own territory, Phillips connected with Mendiola who brought the ball to the Steelers 15. Phillips threw a short pass to Mendiola enabling him to run into the end zone for their first of many reception touchdowns.

Isu completed another long reception again, but was pushed out at the one-yard line. Bigler punched in the one-yarder to make the score 12-0.

After another Phillips/Mendiola touchdown, Phillips ran in a five-yarder into the end zone, thanks to a big reception play by Bigler. Bigler also ran in the two-point conversion, furthering their lead against the Steelers.

Mendiola went on to score two more touchdowns in the half, thanks to Phillips.
