PRESS RELEASE – Top seed Rudy Palaganas romped over 2nd seed Norbie De Silva 264-205 with handicap to become July Senior Bowling Champion.
While everyone had a fairly difficult time with July’s tournament pattern, only Palaganas came through averaging over 200 leading the field.
The shoot-out rounds were a little closer with 10th seed Jhun Viray outlasting 8th seed Buddy Saludo and 9th seed Chuck Meno. In the other bracket 6th seed Bart Lanada ran past 5th seed Bal Perez and 7th seed Ben San Agustin.
The quarterfinals saw some upsets as Viray upset 3rd seed Mary Pangelinan and Lanada upset 4th seed Ben Taimanglo. But the upset dream ended in the semi-finals as Palaganas ran over Viray and De Silva overcame Lanada in similar fashion to secure his spot on the finals against Palaganas.
In the finals, Palaganas left no doubt by opening the championship final with a five bagger and ending with a four bagger (strikes) to secure the title.
The next senior tournament will be 9:30 AM, August 25thth at Central Lanes. This tournament is open to all male senior bowlers aged 50 or will be 50 this year.
