From the players to the fans, everyone was slipping and sliding, trying to stay on their feet. The weather was a crucial factor Sunday causing the field just to be full of mud. It was obvious that the Matua division Saints and Falcons are not going to have such an easy time in their game today.
However, the Saints showed no difficulty at all as they blazed up and down the field holding the Falcons from start to finish. The Saints came out with a dirty 20-0 victory over the Falcons here in the Tiyan field.
“Both teams were pretty much even because the field was wet and it tested our abilities to play. ” said Saints’ quarterback on today’s condition.
Neither teams could get a good; fast paced start with the mud holding them back at every possession. The Saints were anxious to score, so they were able to hold their ground and were able to get some of the momentum rolling.
Coming from a turnover, Saints’ quarterback, Devin Leon, gave a handoff to teammate, Joseph Flores, to get the touchdown giving them the first lead of the game. With the incomplete conversion, the score was 6-0.
However, the Saints didn’t stop there. They were able to come with another yet another touchdown with the work of the dynamic duo, Devin gave another handoff to Joseph giving him the 25-yard run to the end zone. With completing the conversion, the Saints made the score 13-0.
“I have to give it to my line because with their work, I was able to get all those plays and runs, which made it possible for us to score,” said Devin on how it he and his team working in today’s game.
The Falcons weren’t going to give up despite the score so their quarterback, Ethan San Nicholas, got numerous passes to his receivers, TJ Ngitong and Shane Quichoco, getting them close the zone. But the defense of the Saints, and the slippery ball, matched Falcons causing many fumbles and loss of yards. However, it didn’t affect only the Falcons; the Saints were struggling just as much with handling the ball causing the same result. With bad hands, the score was left to 13-0 until halftime.
Coming out of halftime, with both of teams still hesitant and shaky, neither of them could be able to get a score on the board. But when it finally got in to the fourth quarter, the Falcons’ Ethan was sacked making him lose the ball until Saints’ Bernard Mendiolo picked up the fumble.

From there, Saints took their opportunity and ran a play where they reversed passed each other and fooled the Falcons defense going for 25 yards. Right after, Saints’ Devin hits receiver John Cruz on the corner for another touchdown.
With another completed conversion by Joey Simmy, the score was 20-0.
The Falcons tried their best pushing their way as much as they could to the end zone. But with only a few seconds left in the game, they knew that they couldn’t do much. The whistle was blown and that was the end of the ball game.
“I was satisfied with their overall performance considering the conditions were horrible today so we weren’t expecting to come up here and put up many points. But we did good for the conditions of the field though,” said the Saints’ head coach on their overall performance.
Despite the very bad conditions from the weather and the field, the Saints showed no weakness at all as they fly high over the Falcons and come up with the 20-0 victory.
