PRESS RELEASE – Playoffs continued in the 2013 Guam Seniors Spring Baseball League (GSSBL) at Paseo Stadium on Friday, August 9, 2013. After beating the Payless Typhoons on Thursday night, 11-10, the sixth-seeded Palau Masters tried to advance in the Double-Elimination format but were turned back down to the losers’ bracket after the Agat Cardinals came from behind to beat the Palau Masters, 10-8.

Agat’s Rick Tedtaotao was 2-for-2, a triple, and three runs. Vince Villasoto was 2-for-4, a double, two RBI, and a run. Roland Cruz was 2-for-4, an RBI, and two runs. For Palau, Roman Beches was 2-for-3, a triple, and three runs. Milton N. went 3-for-4, two RBI, and a run.

The fifth seed Tutuha Twins came off a win on Thursdaysqueezing by the number 3 seed, Padres, 14-13, but it was short-lived as the top seed Guahan jumped out to a quick 12-0 lead after just one inning to close the door on the Twins sending them down to the losers’ bracket with a 22-2 pounding. Guahan’s Peter Aguon hit a Grand Slam in the bottom of the first. Keith Hattig slammed a three-run home run in the bottom of the second; Eloy Fujikawa followed two batters later with a solo shot. Hattig hit another three-run home run in the bottom of the fourth to cap the win. Guahan got the 10-Run rule win after five innings and advances to take on the Agat Cardinals on Sunday, August 11, 2013 at 5:00 p.m.
