The Guam National Olympic Committee (GNOC) held a large players only meeting Wednesday night at the FD Phoenix center to go over rules and regulations regarding the teams stay in Pohnpei for the 2014 Micro Games. Members of the media and parents were not allowed inside the briefing grounds until after the presentation.

The Guam National Olympic Committee (GNOC) held a large players only meeting Wednesday night at the FD Phoenix center to go over rules and regulations regarding the teams stay in Pohnpei for the 2014 Micro Games.

Since it was a “players only” meeting the area was considered a “media free zone” so GSPN and members of the family were asked to wait outside the entrance to the court as GNOC privately did their briefings.

All Micro Games participants were given black and white shirts which will be sported in Pohnpei.

Much of the meeting could be heard outside the doors through the great FD Phoenix Center sound system, with the team being introduced to team doctors, going over rules and regulations, things they will be needing to bring (like their own pillows), details about the opening and closing ceremonies, and how they’re allowed to share their experiences with the Pohnpei media, Guam media, and social media.

Afterwards, official team photos were taken for all those competing and members of the baseball and softball team were given instructions on how to go about the strict drug testing regulations. GSPN was allowed inside after the briefing to take pictures of the teams.

With the Micro Games less than a week away, this was the first official event to officially bring together all of Guam’s Micro Games athletes with the entire squad scheduled to leave this weekend with the games officially kicking off on July 21st.

GSPN will be covering the 2014 Micro Games so stay tuned with GSPN all games long to get the latest action the day it happens!

Guam’s teams have been preparing diligently for the games and are only concerned about winning gold. Check in with some of the teams on our 2014 Micro Games page with more to come soon!
