Jacob Wessling can say he’s one of the best in the United States in what he does.
Wessling, the 14-year-old son of Chris ‘Cool Breeze’ Wessling, won a bronze medal in the USA Tae Kwando National Championships in San Jose, CA July 1-7.
The high school sophomore won the Hawaii State Tournament in April in order to advance to the National Championships, where he won his first three matches decisively before falling to a former teammate 3-1 to settle for bronze in the 15-17 junior lightweight division.
Jacob, who started the martial art at the age of six, attends Campbell High School in Ewa Beach, HI and fights for the Oahu Tae Kwando Club in Pearl City.
According to his dad Chris, his son wants to attend Oregon State University after high school with intentions of someday making the U.S. Olympic Team.
Chris Wessling was a standout quarterback for the JFK Islanders and the MFL’s Continental Golden Jets in the 1990’s while also being one of Guam’s top pitchers in the Guam Major League with the Continental Golden Jets and UOG Tritons.
