After going down by a score in the 1st quarter, the Hal’s Angels put forth a dominating response, scoring 24 unanswered points in their 24-6 victory over the Island Eagles at the Eagles home field Sunday afternoon. The Angels improve to (2-1) and the Eagles fall to (1-2) with the loss.

Angels quarterback Steve “SP” Phillips tossed a pair of touchdowns, both to young receiver Storm Rosario, which helped open up the offense. Trailing 6-0, Phillips hit Rosario for the teams first points early in the 2nd quarter and a DJ Cruz field goal off a recovered fumble gave the Angels a 10-6 halftime lead.

Phillips would find Rosario again in the back of the end zone for another score to go up 17-6 and the Angels defense came up big once again with an interception from Robert Salas to set up another score.

Angels Ryan “Bigs” Bigler followed lead blocker Candy Taman on the right side of the line for the games final score in the 4th quarter, taking all momentum away from the upstart Eagles.

Each team has now faced each other at least once in the MFL, with the second round of games getting ready to kick off next weekend at the Hal Shiroma field in Dededo. The Angels will be playing host to the undefeated Pepsi Warriors where they’ll be aiming to not only avenge their loss earlier in the season, but to give the two-tim defending champs their first loss in over two years.
