QUITUGUA WINS 1ST ASIAN OCR GOLD

Michael Quitugua wins gold in his age group.

PRESS RELEASE – Trench Challenge OCR athletes from Guam participated at the 1st Asian OCR Championships held in the Philippines on Saturday, January 27, 2018.

Participants from the Philippines, Japan, Brunei, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, UAE, USA, Canada, Germany, Korea, and other countries competed in the Elite and Age group divisions across a 21 Obstacle 5km Course.

Michael Quitugua placed 1st in the 25-29 age group

James Sardea placed 3rd in 45-49 age group

Jose Grape in his first international race finished without penalty in the 40-44 age group

Quitugua and Sardea attributed their success in this event from their experience at the 2017 OCR World Championships that they competed in just a few months ago in Canada.

They are gearing up to qualify again for the worlds at Trench Challenge Guam on September 30th. The 2018 OCRWC is set to take place in London October 19-21.

Congrats to Sanchez senior Kayna Kanemoto for breaking the Guam National High School record in the Javelin throw.
On April 18th, the multi-sport athlete broke her own record with a distance of 34.17 meters. Kanemoto destroyed her previous record of 31.99 meters set last year.
