EAGLES, COWBOYS ADVANCE TO FINALS

First three teams advance to championship round

The Guahan Eagles march on the the 2023 Triple J GNYFF Football League championship game in two divisions while the Southern Cowboys punch their ticket to the Metgot finals.

The Eagles edged the Packers 7-6 in the Manha Division while the staunch Matua team easily handled the Packers 24-0 to move to next Saturday’s championships.

In the Manha semifinals, Jeremiah Diaz II scored the lone touchdown for the top-ranked Eagles and the conversion by Xander Brub proved to be the difference against the tough Packers.

In the Metgot semifinals, Jared Yamasaki’s touchdown in the second quarter was the only score in a battle between the #2 Cowboys and #3 Eagles.

Finally, the defending champion Matua Eagles easily got past the Packers, scoring all their points in the first half.

Ty Leon Guerrero got the Eagles on the board with a 4-yard score followed by Landon Suzuki’s 2-yarder. Shane Untalan returned a 20 yard interception for the final touchdown in the second quarter.

Evan Acosta converted all three PAT kicks for the other six points for the Eagles.
