‘HOPE’ FOOTBALL CAMP READY TO GIVE BACK

The HOPE Football Camp kicks off on Wednesday at 4:30 pm at the GFA facility in Harmon and will go until 8:30 pm each day until Saturday. Athletes from the ages of 10-18 are encouraged and welcomed to attend this free camp. (HOPE: Hold On, Pain Ends)

This is a four-day camp that will include specific skill training and performance measurements. Athletes will be separated into two age groups, the 10-13 year olds which will begin at 4:30 pm and the 14-18 year olds that will start at 6 pm and will finish the night with competition drills.

The camp team will take time out to take each group into a classroom setting and speak about suicide prevention and awareness, along with sharing ways that each athlete can potentially play sports at the collegiate level. On Saturday at 2 pm, Coach Chad Ikei will hold a personal workout session with those young folks from the camp that are selected by him and Coach Diaz.

GAMETIME is grateful to bring this second annual HOPE Football Camp to Guam to promote suicide prevention and awareness. It is their desire to eradicate the thought and act of suicide.

Coach Chad Ikei

“It’s such an honor and blessing to be back on Guam for the HOPE Camp. To see the development of these young athletes through the years and the success they’ve achieved is absolutely amazing. Since the first time I held a camp here 10 years ago I knew there was so much potential talent on island and knowing that over 30 kids have had the opportunity to play collegiate football goes to show that together we can do anything. That’s what the HOPE camp is all about. Sharing and inspiring the idea of working towards being the best version of yourself in sports, classroom, home, community and not being afraid to dream Big. That’s what this camp is all about.”

Coach John Diaz

“I’m truly grateful to be back home on Guam for the 2nd annual HOPE Camp. It was always a dream of mine to go back to Guam and help the youth on island have the same opportunities that I had in the states. Now it’s a reality and I’m excited to meet and work with new kids every year and give them the tools to develop their craft, inspire them to be great daily and use their gifts to achieve success in all areas of their life. As a college coach I’m looking for student-athletes that love to compete and work hard, are tough physically and mentally and have a winning mindset. Those characteristics will help me to find college level players to be the next Terrell Rosario, DeAundre Cruz or Chase Spotanski. Thank you to God and the Hope Leadership Team Coach Brian McGill and Bernice McGill for making this dream come true.”
