FD dominates Tiyan 69-0, rolls to 76 straight wins

By Jay Leon Guerrero

It was homecoming night for the Father Duenas Football team, and they celebrated a huge 69-0 victory over the Tiyan Titans at the GW Field in Mangilao.

The Friars remain undefeated in the ISA Football League and move their incredible winning streak to 76 games. After sitting out last week due to a forfeit victory over Guam High, the Friars exploded for 10 touchdowns.

Jaron Meno and Christian Manglona are your Wendy’s Players of the Game

The Friars put up 41 points in the first half with Jaron Meno starting things off with a 75-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. Meno had just two total rush attempts, all in the first quarter, for 82 total yards before head coach Bruce Meno gave the opportunity to other running backs to get playing time.

“Tonight was a special night for me and my Friar brothers. We wanted to thank all of our family and friends for their continued support,” said Jaron Meno.

Friar quarterback Kaynin McIntosh threw four touchdowns before sitting the rest of the game. All four McIntosh passes were for touchdowns, and he threw for a total of 136 yards.

QUICK HITS

Guam’s Wayne Blas completed his 13th Boston Marathon and 38th marathon overall.
The island’s record holder in the distance, Blas finished this year in 2:35:21.
“I’m very happy with this result because seven months ago, I was sidelined with a stress fracture that kept me out for three months. No running! To come back on an abbreviated marathon build and finish one of the toughest races strong and healthy was a big win for me.”
His time of 2:29:38 at the 2023 Chicago Marathon and World Marathon Majors Age Group Championships stands as the Guam National Record.
