LIMTIACO NAMED TOP STUDENT-ATHLETE

Triton Athletics honors top UOG athletes for school year 23/24

PRESS RELEASE – The University of Guam Triton Athletics and Field House Department had their Champions of Triton Athletics event on Thursday, August 22 in the UOG Calvo Field House. Eleven Champions were placed on the wall led by Student-Athlete of the Year for 2023-24, Isaac Limtiaco. 

UOG President, Dr. Anita Enriquez and Senior Vice-President, Dr. Sharleen Santos-Bamba were in  attendance for the event. Also in attendance were Dean Dr. Gena Rojas of Enrollment Management  and Student Success and the Executive Director of the UOG Endowment Foundation, Katrina Perez.

The complete list of Champions are: 

Katrina Penaflor, Women’s Rugby

Isaac Limtiaco, Men’s Volleyball, Men’s Beach Volleyball and Student-Athlete of the Year

Amanda Uncangco, Women’s Basketball  

Nicolette Perez, Women’s Volleyball  

Nathan Toves, Men’s Soccer  

Janiko Gogue, Women’s Soccer  

Larry Flores, Baseball  

Rebecca Salas, Women’s Beach Volleyball  

Each Champion was the Most Valuable Player for their sport plus the Student-Athlete of the Year. 

Penaflor and Limtiaco both gave talks about their experiences on their teams and being  named a Champion of Triton Athletics. 

The Champions of the Triton Athletics will spend a year on the wall of the field house, until they are  replaced by the class of 2024-25 next year.

Guam Blooded: Ethan Toves Maddies has signed to play D1 baseball for the College of The Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts on a full ride scholarship.
He is the son of proud parents Macky and Yvette Toves Maddies of Los Alamitos, California, grandson of Juan and Maria Toves+ formerly of Ordot/Barrigada Guam and Godson of Anthony and AnnMarie Toves of Ordot, Guam.

The JFK Islanders won the first ever Memorial Weekend High School Basketball Tournament.

The All-Tournament selection were Zhion Macapinlac JFK, Darwin Ecijan JFK, Matthew Quinata Southern, and Malcom Fernandez Tiyan.

JFK’s Collin Rillamas was named tournament MVP.
