METGOT PACKERS CRUISE TO UNDEFEATED SEASON

Packers control both sides of the ball in championship game

By Daniel Akimoto

The Packers defeated the Steelers in a 34-6 blowout victory to claim the 2025 Metgot GYNFF Championship. This victory completes their perfect season. Xzavier Unchangco had a game-high 135 rushing yards. Jayleeana Martinez led the Packers as the team’s quarterback, recording both a rushing and passing touchdown. These two players’ heroics earned them Wendy’s Player of the Game honors.

Jayce Hattori was also instrumental in the win, scoring two touchdowns and adding an interception and four tackles on defense.

Wendy’s Players of the Game: Jayleeana Martinez and Xzavier Unchangco

Rough Start
The Packers were able to secure their first touchdown after the Steelers ended their first drive in a punt. Unchangco hit paydirt from 30 yards out; the extra point was good to put them up 7-0. However, Patience Ezra returned the ball 63 yards on the very next kick off to the house. The Steelers were unable to convert to PAT leaving the score 7-6.

Smooth Sailing
After giving up a kickoff return, the Packers made the necessary adjustments, and it was smooth sailing from there. Everything was looking good for the Packers as they went into halftime up 20-6.

Defense Wins Championships
Both the season and this game can’t go without acknowledging the Packers defense. Savier Cruz had 2 tackles, 1 tackle for loss, 1 forced fumble, and 2 sacks. His defensive pressure helped his team get multiple stops to hold the Steelers offense to only 6 points.

“We worked hard in practice. We worked hard for this game. All season our coaches prepared us for this game,” said Cruz.

Steelers Struggle
Despite a kickoff return touchdown in the first quarter, the Steelers couldn’t get anything going for the rest of the game. Ezra had his team’s lone touchdown along with 70 all-purpose yards. It was a struggle for the rest of the Steelers offense as they couldn’t find the end zone.
