PACIFIC MINI GAMES COMES TO A CLOSE

Guam finishes with 20 medals

After 10 days of regional competition, Team Guam heads home from Palau with 20 medals and an endless amount of memories.

Long distance collegiate runner Hugh Kent paved the way with half of Guam’s gold medal count of four. He and fellow long distance gold medalist Jordan Baden were named the honorary flag bearers during the Closing Ceremony Wednesday night at the Palau National Track & Field Stadium in Koror.

Guam was one of 23 countries that participated in the scaled-downed version of the Pacific Games, coming in 12th place in the total medal count.

The 2029 Pacific Mini Games will be held in the Cook Islands. This was decided at the Pacific Games Council (PGC) Assembly in Palau. The Cook Islands becomes the first country to host the PMG three times.

Other notable competitions coming up are the 2026 Micronesian Games where Nauru will host for the first time ever. The next Pacific Games will be held in Tahiti in 2027.
