On January 26th, 2013 at the UOG football field, the Miller Football League will kick off its fifteenth season with four teams set to compete for the championship title.
The Cars Plus Rams look to defend their title after defeating the Pepsi Warriors in last seasons championship game. With the dynamic duo of Will Williams and “Pumpy” Manglona on their side, the Rams look forward to another season of a high-powered offense.
“Come out and tryout for the Cars Plus Rams,” said head coach Frank Arriola. “We welcome anyone to come out, we dont turn anyone away. As a matter of fact we had a couple of players last year who had zero experience, first time playing.”
“Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate,” said Pepsi Warriors player Vince Borja of trying to claim the championship this year after coming up short last season. The Warriors welcome new players as well, those with the “desire to play,” said Borja.
The other dynamic duo of Stephen “S.P.” Phillips and Josh Bulla of the Shell Hal’s Angels gear up to claim back their championship titles two seasons ago.
“We hope to rebound from short expectations last year and comeback and play strong Angel football that we have been playing for 14 years plus,” said assistant coach of the Angels, Mike Willess.
The MFL welcomes a new team this season, the Falcons, run by head coach Dennis Williams. Although it will be his first time coaching in the MFL, Dennis Williams has coached teams all over the mainland and in Germany too. The Falcons are a mystery, as coach Williams is keeping secret the plans he has for his team, only ready to reveal it come game-time.
In week one, the Rams and the Warriors will face-off in a rematch of last season’s championship game, while the Angels will go up against the Falcons to kick off the 2013 season.
