The defending champion Sanchez Sharks versus the GW Geckos high school baseball matchup ended in a stalemate with both teams tied at four. The Thursday afternoon game was called after six complete innings of play due to no lighting at the Okkodo Baseball Field.

The Sharks spoiled what looked to be a come-from-behind victory for the Geckos. Down by one with two outs in the bottom of the sixth and a runner on second base, the Sharks needed something big to prevent defeat. Darren “Clutch” Meno had the answer. Off the first pitch, Meno cranked the ball to deep left field that drove catcher Daniel Cruz home on a RBI double to tie the game. Meno however was tagged out on the next play ending the game without a winner.

GW struggled early on finding themselves down 3-0 after the first inning. The Geckos were able to find a rhythm in the top of the fifth inning taking advantage of errors by the Sharks. Third baseman Rhonny Santos started things off stealing home on a throwing error giving the Geckos their first run of the game. On the next play, Christian Borja stole home on a wild pitch. Then with the bases loaded, pitcher Deshon Naputi whacked a RBI single to center field that drove home Calvin Valentine to tie the game at three. Naputi would later steal home on a wild pitch to give the Geckos the lead.

GW pitcher Deshon Naputi pitched a complete game finishing with three strikeouts, two hits with a RBI. Sanchez lead off pitcher Darren Meno finished with two strikeouts, one hit with an RBI.
