[sixcol_five_last]

PRESS RELEASE – The Championship game for the 2012 Guam Womens Fastpitch League #2 Lady Adahi taking on #4 Bottomed Out.  Bottomed Out would need to beat Lady Adahi twice since Lady Adahi was undefeated in the double elimination playoff format.

In a great game with both starting pitchers struggling in the early inning and then settling down the game would remain tied up going into the 6th inning before Lady Adahi would string together six consecutive hits to put five runs on the board to take a 9-4 lead.  Bottomed Out couldn’t answer in the top of the 7th inning and Lady Adahi would win the game and take home the 2012 Guam Womens Fastpitch League Championship.

Bottomed Out starter Vanessa Cruz and Lady Adahi starter Koko Cruz would battle through nerves in the first couple of innings with struggling to find the strike zone.  Bottomed Out would take advantage scoring a run in the first inning off a walk and two hit batters.  Lady Adahi would answer with two runs of their own sparked by a rbi double by Neesie Santos.

Bottomed Out would answer in the second inning with Latoya Mojica hitting the right field gap and streaking around the bases for a two run inside the park homerun to give Bottomed Out the 4-2 lead through two innings.

Koko Cruz would settle down on the mound for Adahi blanking Bottomed Out for the rest of the game giving her offense a chance to come back.  Lady Adahi offense would answer tying up the game in the third inning with Cruz providing a lead off double to ignite the Lady Adahi rally.

With the game tied at 4-4 going into the 6th inning Bottomed Out would get a lead off triple from Latoya Mojica but strand her at third and fail to take advantage of the scoring opportunity.  Lady Adahi would come out swingining in the bottom of the 6th inning with six consecutive hits capped by a rbi double by Cruz again.

Cruz would retire Bottomed Out in order in the 7th inning and Lady Adahi would celebrate as they take the championship with a  9-4 win over Bottomed Out.  Cruz would pick up the win going 7 innings allowing only 4 hits and go 3-4 with three runs and an rbi at the plate to earn Playoff  MVP honors.  Latoya Mojica was 2-2 with a triple, homerun and two rbi for Bottomed Out in the loss.

Bottomed Out finish an incredible playoff run going 2-2 after finishing with the 4th seed and a 1-6 record during the regular season.  Lady Adahi finishes a undefeated 3-0 playoff run after finishing with the second seed and 4-3 record in the regular season.

Guam Womens Fastpitch League finishes up a great first season at Leo Palace Resort.  Look for the next GWFL season to start in March 2013.

Bottomed Out squeezes Juice for 8-7 win to advance to Championships

In a rematch of their first round game Bottomed Out and Juice would square off in the losers bracket semifinals with the winner advancing to take on Lady Adahi in the Championship Round.  Bottomed Out had nipped Juice 11-10 in a come from behind win in round 1 and Juice almost turned the tables on them staging a 4 run 7th inning rally to comeback and tie the game.  However Bottomed Out would have last at bats and Zee Santos would provide the walk off rbi single to give Bottomed Out the win 8-7.

Bottomed Out would score 3 runs in the first inning and 3 runs in the second inning to take a early 6-1 lead over Juice after two innings.  Zee Santos lead the way with rbi singles in both innings and would finish the game red hot going 5-5 with two runs and two rbi.

Juice would chip away at the lead adding a run in the 3rd inning and a run in the 6th inning to cut the Bottomed Out lead to 7-3 heading into the final inning.   In the 7th inning Juice would load the bases on a hit pitch and two walks before Monica Fernandez would rip a two rbi double to cut the deficit to just two runs.  Danielle Camacho would add a rbi sac fly and Larissa Dirige would tie up the game with a two out rbi single to complete the comeback and tie up the game 7-7.

Bottomed Out would have final atbats and lead off the bottom of the 7th with a single from Marcy Quichocho to put the winning run on base.  The hero of the game Zee Santos would step to the plate with one out and line the first pitch into left field for a walk off rbi single and give Bottomed Out another one run last inning win over Juice in the playoffs.

Tif Miner picks up the win for Bottomed Out who advance to the championship game against undefeated Lady Adahi.
