In a rematch of last season’s Matua division championship, the Hal’s Angels came out the victors once again winning 20-0 over the Giants Saturday afternoon at UOG field. Coming off a loss from the Saints, the Angels were eager for a win, and win they did.
“Especially from losing our first game, just to come out and win after their big win, it feels really good,” said Angels quarterback Nolen Chamberlain.
Chamberlain ran his offense with confidence, causing smooth sailing for the rest of the game. The Angels set the tone, opening up their offensive game with a pass reception to Tyler Pangelinan to bring the Angels deep into the Giants territory. Chamberlain then completed another pass to Kyle Calairo to put them at the 2-yard line. Jaryd Tabobo would follow with a two-yard touchdown and a kicked the two-point conversion putting his team up 8-0.
The Angels were able to gain possession again when Sean Gomez forced a fumble late in the first quarter.

Early in the second quarter, a run by David Santos and Chamberlain’s quarterback sneak had the Angel’s knocking at the Giants’ door once again. Another Chamberlain to Pangelinan connection inched the Angels closer to the goal line. With four yards to go, Gomez came straight up the middle extending their lead 14-0.
The Giants began to gain momentum midway through the second quarter thanks to runs by Marcus Manglona and Benny Ray Sablan. However, with less than three minutes left in the half, the Giants were unable to grab another first down.
In the second half, the Giants came out rejuvenated, exerting pressure on the Angel offense and forcing them into a punt situation.
Answering back, Angel’s Jeremy Chargulaf grabbed his offense another set of four downs after intercepting a pass and returning it for fifteen yards to the 30-yard line. In the ensuing play, Chamberlain threw 25-yards down to Ivan Quidachay, who awed the crowd with what could be described as an NFL catch, juggling the ball to gain possession and eventually falling on it. The reception brought the Angels to the Giants’ two-yard line, going to Gomez to punch in the final touchdown of the game.
“I just played to my full potential. That [passing] comes with a lot of practice, and the great coaching from our coach Buzzy. He helps me in practice and he wants me to work on it because I am the quarterback and how can I lead the team without the experience?”
The Giants fall to 1-1 while the Angels earned a win and are now 1-1 as well.
