FD has already equaled their win total from last season. The offense improved from last week producing three touchdowns. The ‘Maroon Wall’ also held the Gecko offense to six points in the second half. Coach Bruce Meno has the boys focused and the addition of Coach Tont Posadas back on the sidelines only helps.  Kicker Brian Leon Guerrero is leading the IIAAG with four extra points. That’s always a plus in close games.

  • GW has lost two straight on the field. The bright spot was Hank Sablan leading with 8 carries for 55 yards and one touchdown. Brendan Santos also scored on a quarterback sneak and the defense produced a safety. The Geckos are still a young team and will learn from this loss.
  • Guam High received a stiff challenge from Okkodo. The Panthers buckled down and held onto a 24-16 win. The Panthers were up 16-0 in the 4th quarter before the Bulldogs made a run. The reserves for the Panthers will play a key role the rest of the season. The Panther defense was led by Tegan Brown with 16 Tackles. LJ Aguon went 14-for-30 for 288 yards and two touchdowns. He also had three carries for 32 yards and a score.
  • Okkodo has shown the ability to hang in games. The Bulldogs pressured LJ Aguon all night and the offensive scored the highest point total of the season with 16.
  • Week 3 Offensive Player of The Week – Zavier Damian RB-FD- Damian rushed for 13 carries for 126 yards and two touchdowns. His performance is the highest of the IFL season and makes him the frontrunner for the rushing title.
  • Week 3 Defensive Player of The Week – Roy Taimanglo CB-FD- Sparked the third quarter with a 35 yard pick 6 and finished with two interceptions total.

Week 4 Predictions

  • Okkodo vs. GW – Both teams are desperate for a win. The Bulldogs finished strong in their loss against the Panthers. GW has faded in their last two games. Okkodo 16 – GW 14.
  • FD vs. Southern – FD is undefeated and Southern has not played a game this year. Southern actually had the manpower to play Sanchez. The game was forfeited because of lack of equipment. Time for some inspiration!  FD 42 Southern 7. I want to congratulate Southern Girls Volleyball going 4-0, Boys Cross Country upsetting Guam High, and the Girls Cross Country win over St John’s!
  • Sanchez vs. JFK – Both teams meet up after a week off. I’m looking for Dondre Barnes to have his break out game. Jarred Hernden will have a good game too. Both defenses will be tested in this game. Sanchez 32, JFK 24.

Power Rankings

  • Guam High (3-0)
  • FD (2-0)
  • Sanchez (1-1)
  • JFK (1-1)
  • GW (1-2)
  • Okkodo (0-3)
  • Southern (0-2)

  • Chance Horvath had one sack, three tackles, and one fumble recovery in Tumwater High School 41-0 win over Shelton.
  • Kinnick Sophomore Dre Paylor rushed for 371 yards on 30 carries and scored four times breaking the Japan single game record. Kinnick also beat Yokota for the first time since 1998. Paylor has 782 yards and eight touchdowns on 78 carries in three games this season. Arguably the best running back in the Far East.
  • Jarrett Mitchell is the only Far East football player on rivals.com. He is a senior running back for Kubasaki High School and has aspirations of playing college football.
  • #1 Miami Washington beat #2 Miami Central 28-17 in the matchup of the two best high school teams in the nation.
  • November 16, 2013 Hypothetical Dream Match- IFL Playoff Champion vs. DODDS Pacific Division I Playoff Champion. I vote that DODDS pays for it all. That’s taxpayer’s dollars going to good use!
  • Anyone out there who is aware of other players stateside with a Guam connection please let me know!
