JROTC MARKSMANSHIP MEET

JROTC cadets from Simon Sanchez, Southern, George Washington and Guam High proved their sharpshooting skills in two Marksmanship Events held at Simon Sanchez High School on Saturday.

The top overall individual shooter was Sanchez sharpshooter, Lowella Di Ramos, with an overall score of 264 on the first match and 266 on the second match. Sanchez demonstrated its abilities by finishing 1st place as a team, followed by Southern, Guam High and lastly GW on the first match.

Sanchez once again took the throne on the second match by placing 1st then Guam High at 2nd, Southern at 3rd, and GW at 4th place.

QUICK HITS

Guam’s Wayne Blas completed his 13th Boston Marathon and 38th marathon overall.
The island’s record holder in the distance, Blas finished this year in 2:35:21.
“I’m very happy with this result because seven months ago, I was sidelined with a stress fracture that kept me out for three months. No running! To come back on an abbreviated marathon build and finish one of the toughest races strong and healthy was a big win for me.”
His time of 2:29:38 at the 2023 Chicago Marathon and World Marathon Majors Age Group Championships stands as the Guam National Record.
