Two touchdowns separated the Eagles and the Raiders in their Manha division bout of the GNYFF youth football league. The Raiders slipped away with a 14-0 victory Sunday afternoon on their home field in Tiyan.

In the first half, Raiders’ team captain Jonahs Gumabon put his team up early. Nine-year old Gumabon ran wide, found some running room, and ran into the end zone for the only touchdown of the half.

After being ahead by a mere one touchdown for most of the game, the second half saw Rodney Joe Barnes extend his team’s lead after running wide right into open field for a 35-yard touchdown run.

Strong runs by Eagle’s Davin Jay Rivera and Jordan Tomas Francisco helped inch the eagles closer to the end zone, however the Raiders defense stifled their attempts as they turned the ball over on downs at the 20 yard-line.

Raiders’ Brandon Soulik ran for what would have been a 45-yard touchdown, but the play was called back for an illegal block in the back.

Despite the loss, the Eagles were able to hold down the Raiders for most of the game, but good blocking and speed accounted for the Raiders’ touchdowns.

The Raiders improve to 2-2 while the Eagles drop to 0-4.
