PRESS RELEASE – A 4-4 draw between Guam Shipyard and Quality Distributors helped the Paintco Lady Strykers regain first place in Week 5 of the Bud Light Women’s Soccer League at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.
Guam Shipyard, the only undefeated team in the league, slipped to second place with the team’s second draw of the season. Guam Shipyard led 3-2 at halftime but could not continue to contain Quality’s Paige Surber, who scored both of her team’s second half goals. Surber’s teammate Kayla Kinney scored Quality’s first two goals in the match.
Destiny Castro scored a pair of goals in the first half for Guam Shipyard and teammates Demi Rose Brennan and Erica Quichocho also scored in the contest.
The Lady Strykers held up their end of the bargain later in the day taking no chances in a 7-1 game against a short-handed Hyundai team. Kim Sherman, Allie Burnet, and Felicia Alumbaugh each scored twice for the league frontrunners and Krystiana Martinez scored once for the Lady Strykers’ final tally. Shana Spindel scored Hyundai’s lone goal. The loss is Hyundai’s second straight after squeaking past Quality Distributors 5-4 in Week 3.
