[sixcol_five_last]

PRESS RELEASE – Pacific X-treme Combat (PXC), one of Asia’s premier Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) promotions, recently expanded their roster by signing one of Japan’s rising stars of the sport, Yusuke Yachi, a young Shooto Champion training with the famed Krazy Bee dojo in Tokyo.

PXC has built a reputation as the most experienced promotion outside of Japan with 36 professional events and since expanding to the Philippines in 2011, PXC shows have garnered some of the highest ratings of any MMA show in the region. PXC has also built a reputation for showcasing future MMA stars on the way to The UFC, the world’s top MMA league. PXC CEO & Promoter, E.J. Calvo, stated, “We pride ourselves on recruiting young talent and giving them exposure with tough fights against some of the best fighters from California to China.” Calvo also stated, “We are happy to welcome Yusuke Yachi to our PXC roster of elite Featherweights. He is an exciting technical fighter on his feet as well as on the ground.”

Yusuke Yachi brings with him a record of nine wins and only three losses, with one of the losses coming at the hands of another PXC veteran, Guy Delameau, in a 2011 Shooto bout. Yachi is on a 5-win streak, with significant victories against Shooto veterans Wataru Miki and Yuji Hoshino on his way to a Shooto championship at a young age of 22 years old.

Yusuke Yachi is slated to make his PXC debut as part of a World Featherweight 4-Man Tournament with a matchup against Mark Striegl, another rising star from Asia. Striegl is undefeated with 12 straight wins and is talked about as the best pound-for-pound MMA fighter in the Philippines today.

PXC-37 will take place on May 18, 2013 at The Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig-Manila, Philippines. The event will be broadcast nationwide on AKTV via IBC-13 to millions of viewers in the Philippines, and will streamed online via PXC’s Facebook page.

QUICK HITS

Guam’s Wayne Blas completed his 13th Boston Marathon and 38th marathon overall.
The island’s record holder in the distance, Blas finished this year in 2:35:21.
“I’m very happy with this result because seven months ago, I was sidelined with a stress fracture that kept me out for three months. No running! To come back on an abbreviated marathon build and finish one of the toughest races strong and healthy was a big win for me.”
His time of 2:29:38 at the 2023 Chicago Marathon and World Marathon Majors Age Group Championships stands as the Guam National Record.
