[sixcol_five_last]

Originally scheduled to take place at a larger arena, PXC-39 is set at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City, Metro Manila, where the organization has already staged a number of highly successful shows that has helped it to grow to be the highest-rated MMA league in the country.

The date holds the most significant meaning to Fil-Am Mark Striegl, who right now, is arguably the best MMA fighter in the Philippines, and to his continually growing throng of followers. Headlining a stacked card of professional MMA bouts at PXC-39 in front of what is expected to be thousands of screaming fans in Manila, the “Mugen” will be facing one of South Korea’s top MMA fighters and the captain of the world-renowned Korean Top Team, Jang Yong Kim.

Training full-time in Baguio City, Philippines, Mark gets a crack at the vacant championship belt in PXC’s loaded Featherweight Division after a little over a year of signing with the organization, two dominant victories, and recent injury delays. He will be staking his winning streak currently pegged at 12 against a very dangerous opponent in Kim. Despite his growing reputation as a baby-faced assassin and submission specialist, Mark will have his hands full as Kim has already registered a couple of knockouts to his resume, a feat that Mark has yet to duplicate.

Since his MMA debut in 2009, Mark has been on a winning rampage that saw 10 opponents tap out, including current PXC Lightweight Champion Harris Sarmiento. With his aggressive grappling ability complemented by his winsome looks, Mark has captured the adulation of MMA fans in the Philippines. As a result, he has recently been signed as endorser of a sports outlet and a brand of canned tuna.

While the Striegl-Kim battle is the most-awaited match come September 14, it’s but the icing on the cake of PXC-39’s top-heavy card, with stars from Korea, Japan, Hawaii, Guam and the Philippines. MMA fans are guaranteed to have a memorable and thrilling night. Stay tuned for more details on all the bouts to take place at PXC-39.

For those who would want to experience the action live at the Ynares Sports Arena, tickets to PXC-39 are now available at all Ticket World and SM Tickets outlets. Fans are urged to purchase seats in advance before they go, as PXC presentations at the Ynares are known to sell out quickly. PXC events are also on free television via TV5 to be aired the following evening.

PXC’s CEO, E.J. Calvo, adds, “PXC-39 will be a special event, with so many big names of MMA in the region from Japan, Guam, the US, Hawaii and the Philippines. It will also be our ninth professional show in the Philippines over the last two years or so, almost double of all the other major MMA events put together. PXC has given opportunities to the most talented MMA fighters in the Philippines and the region, and we will continue to do so moving forward.”

Pacific X-treme Combat (PXC) is one of the fastest-growing MMA organizations in the world. It has registered some of the highest television ratings of any MMA broadcast.

PXC-39 is made possible through a partnership with TV5 and San Mig Strong Ice, and the support of Beer Below Zero, FHM Magazine, FHM.com.ph, Real Sports, Fitness First, Healthway Agility Philippines, loqal and Spin.ph.
