The Island Stunnerz wasted no time in the opening round of the Guam Women’s Tackle Football League playoffs by dominating the Lady Spartans in a 46-0 blowout scoring 26 points in the first quarter on Saturday.  Stunnerz Quarterback LeeAnn Villagomez had a monstrous game tossing three touchdowns also adding running touchdown late in the second quarter.

The Stunnerz defense, led by Jen Buyske and Bridgette Le Blanc, denied the Spartan offense to move anywhere but backwards.  It appeared that the most positive yards the Spartan offense would get were due to Stunnerz defensive penalties.

Tanya Flores scored the first touchdown for the Stunnerz on their very first offensive possession on a short-yardage toss to the left which opened up a one-sided first quarter.  Flores followed up her touchdown run with a 16-yard touchdown catch from Villagomez after a fumble recovered by her defense.

An onside-kick a play later gave the Stunnerz another offensive possession where Christine Deleon punched in a 20-yard touchdown run to put the Stunnerz up 18-0.The Lady Spartans were trying to make it out of the quarter when the Stunnerz forced another fumble which was recovered by Amy Blas.

Villagomez tacked on another touchdown on a 35-yard pass to a wide open Lorina Guerrero after being flushed out of the pocket by the Spartan defense.  The Stunnerz ended the quarter on a 26-0 run.

Villagomez scored the only touchdown for the Stunnerz in the second quarter to go up 34-0.

Guerrero and Deleon ran the clock right out of a quick third quarter.  Villagomez added another touchdown pass to linebacker Deniece Padilla who was in as a receiver on the play.

The Stunnerz closed out the quick fourth quarter by tacking on another touchdown, advancing them to the semifinals next weekend.

Team Legacy 72, Iron Maidens 0

As far as one-sided games go, Team Legacy poured on a scoring onslaught taking down the Iron Maidens in the first game of the quarterfinals.  Gia “The Cheetah” Sarusal scored four touchdowns for her team while also adding six points on point after conversions.  The defense also stood out scoring three touchdowns right off interceptions by Kineshia Flores, Ciera Arriola, and Dana Benavente. The defense also added two safeties in a dominating performance from the defending champs.
