Despite an injury plagued day for both teams, the Island Stunnerz defeated their rival team Steel Blazers 30-20 in the second game of the Guam Women’s Tackle Football League Saturday double-header.
The Stunnerz were holding on to a slim 24-20 lead under the four minute warning in the fourth quarter. Halfback Lorina Guerrero had posted two touchdowns early on to give the Stunnerz the lead but a fake hand-off to Guerrero left quarterback LeeaAnn Villagomez wide open for an uncontested 20-yard touchdown run to seal their win.
Steel Blazers quarterback TJ Rodrigues tossed two touchdowns for the day but was held short on the comeback with her squad being kept scoreless in the fourth quarter.
All-purpose offensive player Mae Ann Pajaro scored two touchdowns for the Steel Blazers, a catch from Rodrigues in the second quarter to put them up 13-6 and a 70-yard touchdown run in the third quarter to give them a 20-15 lead. Pajaro was banged-up towards the end of the third quarter but returned late in the fourth to try and rally her team before leaving again with an injury.
Villagomez gave the Stunnerz the 24-20 lead in the third quarter after tossing a 15-yard touchdown pass to the big target Michelle Rode. The pair have established great chemistry since the league expanded players last season.

left in the first quarter with a probable dislocated elbow along with a defensive teammate who suffered a probable dislocation in her knee.
The Steel Blazers had their share of injuries with a handful of players needing to be helped off the field.
RUFF RYDERS 44, IRON MAIDENS 0
The Ruff Ryders poured on the points after just two-and-a-half quarters of play with the Iron Maidens being unable to continue due to an illegible amount of players because of injury.
