PRESS RELEASE – The Guam Shipyard Wolverines were among six other teams in the Chevrolet Robbie Webber Youth Soccer League U17 division to claim one of the first wins on the newly constructed upper turf pitch in the age division’s season opener at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.
Matches of the U17 division, delayed until the completion of the upper turf pitch, officially started with seven matches Saturday.
Nathan Camacho led the Wolverines against the goal-hungry Wings Black team, earning a hat trick in the 7-2 victory. Teammate Jestin Escobar added a brace and teammates Derrick Cruz and Napu Mesa added a goal each. Hinako Ito, a female member of the Wings Black team, scored a goal in the first half and later in the second half, teammate Ryo Sakane scored his team’s other goal.

To raise much-needed funds to help sustain their programs, the youth league clubs currently are selling $10 raffle tickets in the GFA Chevrolet Supersonic Sweepstakes, featuring a brand new 2013 Chevrolet Sonic vehicle as the grand raffle prize. Proceeds from ticket sales will be distributed to clubs based on the number of tickets they sell. The club that sells the most tickets by March 30 also will receive a $250 bonus. Tickets may be purchased from club members or at the GFA Main Office in Harmon. The official drawing will take place April 20, 2013, Jamboree Day. For more information, call the GFA Main Office at 637-4321.
