LADY ROYALS WIN FRIENDSHIP TOURNEY

The ND Royals’ boys and girls basketball teams participated in the 2014 Settsu-Saipan Friendship Basketball Tournament where the girls earned gold with a big win over MISO.

PRESS RELEASE – The ND Royals men and women’s basketball teams participated in the 2014 Settsu-Saipan Friendship Basketball Tournament held on March 26-28, 2014, at Marianas High School in Saipan. The annual event is a basketball goodwill tournament sponsored by the Basketball Association of the Northern Marianas Islands and features the Settsu Red Impulse Basketball Club from Osaka, Japan.

The Lady Royals Notre Dame defeated the MISO/PS (Public and Private School) All-Stars 69-55 for the tournament crown in the Women’s Division. Destiny Castro led ND’s scoring with 24 points in that game, followed by Bryanika Arceo with 14, Demie Brennan with 9, and Kimberly Murphy with 8.

Other teams that participated in the tournament were the Marianas High School Dolphins and the Settsu Red Impulse. Lady Royal Destiny Castro was named tournament Co-MVP for the women’s division. The ND Royals men’s team finished the tournament as Third Runner-Up. ND Royal Isaiah Sablan was named tournament Co-MVP for the men’s division.
